COMMUNITY ARTIST

My professional practice is centred around community-oriented public art/street art. This often involves engaging a diverse range of communities in ‘co-creation’ or community-partnering projects to create artworks that are owned, situated in, and influenced by communities.

I am investigating the methodologies that can be used to foster positive impact of these projects and how they can help enrich connection within communities. By engaging community members in dialogues that are important to them, and co-creating artworks in response, community members have an opportunity to reclaim the public spaces they are part of and uplift the voices and life stories of those members.

I hold a deep passion and belief in the importance of these projects as a tool for enriching community spaces, as well as my responsibility to be an informed and critical practitioner.

Themes that frequent my work are the connections between humans and nature, Climate Change, Conservation and Biodiversity, First Nations representation and collaboration, Feminism and feminist voices, science communication, and cultural diversity.
